Creating annotations

Creating annotations

In BIMcollab Zoom, you can add annotations to your 3D view in order to create clear and understandable viewpoints for issues. Any annotations that are visible while creating an issue, will be saved in the issue.
You can draw arrows to point at objects, circles to emphasise an area, or use the property stamp to display properties of an element.

Lines

The line-annotations include straight lines, arrows, ellipses, clouds and rectangles. Follow these steps to create a line annotation:
  1. Click on the line style button, set the line thickness and choose if the line is dashed or solid.
For arrows, you can also determine the settings of the arrowheads.

  2. Click the paint bucket button to choose a color for the annotation
  3. Choose the kind of annotation you want to place by clicking on the arrow button next to the annotation tool in the toolbar. Once you have chosen the design, the tool is immediately active.

  4. Click on the surface on which you want to place the annotation. The annotation will be placed in the same plane as the clicked surface.
To create an annotation perpendicular to the camera position, hold the SHIFT key while placing the annotation.
The annotation properties, like the color and thickness, can still be adjusted after placing it. Select the annotation and use the line style- and paint bucket buttons to make adjustments.

Text

Clarify viewpoints by adding a short text annotation.
  1. Click the paint bucket button to choose a color for the annotation
  2. Click the arrow button next to the annotation tool in the toolbar, and choose 'Text'.

  3. Click on the surface on which you want to place the annotation. The annotation will be placed in the same plane as the clicked surface.
To create an annotation perpendicular to the camera position, hold the SHIFT key while placing the annotation.
  4. Enter the text and click OK.

  5. Use the 4 corners around the text to adjust its size once the text has been placed.
The color of the annotation can still be adjusted after placing it. Select the annotation and paint bucket button to make adjustments.

Property stamp

With the property stamp, you can display any properties of an element in the 3D view. Follow these steps to choose the properties to be displayed, and to place the stamp.
  1. Click on the line style button, set the line thickness of the stamp's frame, and choose if the line is dashed or solid.

  2. Click the paint bucket button to choose a color for the annotation
  3. Click the arrow button next to the annotation tool, and choose 'Property stamp settings'.

  4. Under 'Tooltip and Stamp tool contents', choose the properties you want to display. These can be any IFC properties present in the currently loaded IFC files.

  5. Click the arrow button next to the annotation tool in the toolbar, and choose 'Property stamp'.
  6. Click on the surface on which you want to place the annotation. The annotation will be placed in the same plane as the clicked surface.
The stamp will show the properties for the clicked element.
The annotation properties, like the color and thickness, can still be adjusted after placing it. Select the annotation and use the line style- and paint bucket buttons to make adjustments.
